Think Social Media is just for kids?…think again.

  • If Facebook was a country it would be the 4th largest
  • The fastest growing segment on Facebook are 55-65 year old females
  • It took TV 13 years to reach 50 million users, it took Facebook 9 months to reach 100 million

Combine this with some staggering stats about consumer behavior:

  • 25% of search results for the worlds’ top 20 brands are links to user-generated content
  • 35% of bloggers post opinions about products or brands

What results is a shift from consumer preferences being informed by brands to consumer preferences being informed by their social media network.

It’s all about word of mouth – and the world of mouths we listen to is ever expanding thanks to our network of online friends.

Personally, I base every iphone app I buy (even the free ones) on user reviews and almost never read the application description.
